A look back at 2015

Hard to believe that it is already 2016. The year has flown by, and I’m sure 2016 will do the same.

It’s easy to remember the hard times. It’s easy to remember the things that sucked. So what I’m going to do instead is a quick recap of the awesome/memorable things that happened in 2015, broken out by month, but otherwise in no particular order.

I’m looking forward to more writing, more conventions, and more fun to be had in 2016.

January

Started reading Saga. Submitted three short stories (Rejected). Flew to Ireland for a week.

February

Power watched True Detective season 1. Discovered the Nihilist Arbys twitter account. Turned 31. Played some new board games.

March

Started 100 Word Wednesday on the blog. Ran a successful campaign to be an Exploding Kittens beta tester. Started using Scrivener.

April

Ran in the Capital of Texas 10k. Managed one of the largest Exploding Kittens playest parties. Got a flash fiction story shortlisted at MashStories. Hung out with friends I hadn’t seen in a while at a dog park.

May

Touched my toes without bending my knees. Wrote a story for the Armadillocon writers workshop. Lived through the great Austin Memorial Day floods.

June

Got a second story on the MashStories short list. Made chicken vindaloo tortellini. Speed read through a big chunk of Lois McMaster Bujold works.

July

Wrote even more. Ran 13.1 miles in central texas. Had a blast at Armadillocon.

August

Started a podcast. Read and reviewed books. Relatively slow month.

September

Reviewed more books. Found out one of my short stories had been turned into an audio short. Discovered a tutorial for dudes on taking good selfies. Spent an awesome weekend in Seattle, ran in the Beat the Blerch 10k. Saw Chris Hardwick on his Funcomfortable tour. Wrote some more. Dealt with a baby diamondback rattlesnake.

October

Drove to Nerdcon. Had an awesome time at Nerdcon. Saw an old friend, ate a giant pizza. Came up with a NaNoWriMo idea. Went as Handsome Jack (from Borderlands 2) for Halloween.

November

Completed NaNoWriMo for the second year in a row. Had an amazing Thanksgiving feast. Grew a beard for Movember.

December

Watched Star Wars Episode 7. Played Tales from the Borderlands. Finished a draft of a short story. Started revisions.
