Good day, friends, fans, and loyal listeners!
A few quick updates
- My Social Media Diet
This election and the resulting fallout has been stressful for pretty much everyone, and the echo chambers of social media has made it even more tiring. In order to help preserve what’s left of my sanity and productivity, I’ve installed the WasteNoTime plugin on all my browsers and set a hard limit of 30 minutes per day (combined) for Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
I know it’s not something I can or should do forever, but in the short term I’m sleeping better and writing more. Just know that if you’re trying to get ahold of me on one of these platforms, it might take a few days for me to get your message.
- A Winter Summerland
Austin Tx is doing its best summer impression this week. In a twist that surprised even me, I found myself at Barton Springs to enjoy the sunny and warm weather. For those of you that are in the are, the pool is open, free, and the water is just as chilly as you remember.
- The Great Escape
Another cool thing I did this weekend involved locking myself in a room with a bunch of my friends where we had to solve a bunch puzzles before we could get out. No, we hadn’t been kidnapped by some mad sadist, we were playing at Austin Panic Room (Despite several people in our group having anxiety, none of us actually panicked). Since it was everyone’s first time, we wound up going with one of their simpler rooms. We neglected to factor in that most of us are puzzle gamers, so we were surprised when we utterly demolished the room. Everyone had a great time, and if puzzles are your thing, you should really check them out.
- Writing Progress
Look over there! (At the sidebar) I’ve finished the latest draft of what’s currently called “Hellscape Noir”. Another week or so to polish and I should be able to get it in the hands of my beta readers.
I’ve also added counters for two of my short stories and the outline of my next novel length project. Exciting things are on the horizon. Stay tuned!
